Fruit Fly Trap
If you have a compost bin sitting in your kitchen and get a little lax in taking it out, you'll likely get fruit flies in your kitchen at some point. Or even if you just have a bowl of fruit that has gone a bit off.
First, remove whatever is attracting the fruit flies of course. Then you can make an easy homemade fruit fly trap to help get rid of the little critters. All you need is:
- a small glass jar
- apple cider vinegar
- liquid dish soap
Fill the jar half full of apple cider vinegar. Add a few drops of the dish soap. Place the jar near where the fruit fly attractant was.
If you're still having problems after a few days (or have an ongoing issue due to lots of jam making or something!), empty the jar and refill with fresh vinegar and dish soap.
