This is more than just a recipe but a whole process an online friend shared.

    1. Vaccuum the entire house. Vacuum the dogs athemselves if they'll let you. Use the soft brush. Vacuum any animal beds. Empty the vacuum cleaner.
    2. Spread diatomaceious earth under the furniture cushions and beat it into the rugs. Spread some outside the house as well, around any doorways. Sprinkle some lightly on the animal beds too.
    3. Bathe the dogs with Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castile soap. Make sure no soap gets in the animal's eyes. Leave the shampoo on for 5-10 minutes if you can, then rinse well.
    4. Wash all the hard surfaces of the house with a mix of 1 gallon of water and 2 oz of peppermint castile soap. Wipe down the baseboards and bathrooms too.
    5. Every night, make your own flea traps. Fill shallow dishpans or pie pans with a bit of water and some dishsoap. Shine a nightlight on the pans to attract the fleas. They'll drown in the water.

Note: I was told not to use Dr. Bronner's on cats but I see others online saying it's okay on cats.
